We are currently looking for an elementary teacher to complete our team.

Prairie View Community School is dedicated to making education work for students by using problem-based, place-based learning to create a hands-on, real-world experience for our students. 

We are a small school in a small community in the American West where hard work and a good attitude will take you a long way. We are looking for a committed elementary teacher to complement our excellent team of teachers. You will be responsible for preparing and implementing a full educational teaching plan according to the school’s requirements. 

We seek to make learning connect with our students through learning opportunities, mentorships, and community projects to ensure that students use the skills that are taught to them. You will provide knowledge and instruction to students while also helping them grow academically and expose them to new ideas and skills. 

The ideal candidate will be passionate for the job with an ability to reach out to students & families and create a relationship of mutual trust. They will know how to take education beyond the classroom, organize a class and make learning a challenging, yet meaningful process. The goal is to help cultivate the students’ interest in education and be their dedicated ally in the entire process of learning and development.

Teacher Job Responsibilities: 

  • Demonstrates academic competence in subject area(s), and displays an inclination for developing integrated and interdisciplinary work across the curriculum.

  • Maintains a growth mindset toward student learning, teaching practice, and personal/collective professional development.

  • Facilitates problem-solving, with a curious mind and critical thinking skills, showing a high degree of creative application in the implementation of data-driven curriculum and practice.

  • Designs and facilitates differentiated and personalized learning goals and activities that follow a coherent sequence, are aligned to instructional goals, and engage students in high-level cognitive activity in a small school setting.

  • Become skilled in using appropriate educational data to analyze student performance and  hold themselves accountable for learner outcomes. 

  •  Is an advocate for their students; works efficiently; and believes in their ability, the capability of their students, and themselves to succeed and excel while demonstrating a high degree of self-efficacy (agency).

  • Maintain a positive, safe learning environment 

  • Collaborates effectively with a variety of stakeholder groups within the organization and with external partners to increase student performance and contribute to advancing the teaching and learning craft.

  • Plan and execute Place-Based Learning and Project-Based Learning with a team

  • Serve as a role model and an innovative and creative learner by modeling a love of learning and desire for personal growth. Develop and enrich professional skills and be on the cutting edge of instructional practice and pedagogy by partaking in and attending professional development opportunities.

  • Has the ability to look beyond the walls of the classroom and demonstrate global competence and how their work will expand the impact of students’ work to their families and local and global communities.

Teacher Qualifications/Skills:

  • Knowledge of instructional methods appropriate for students at the respective grade level.

  • Thorough knowledge of teaching best practices and legal educational guidelines partnered with a willingness to follow the school’s policies and procedures 

  • Desire and ability to work with students at the specified age level with diverse backgrounds and levels of ability toward accomplishing their educational goals.

  • Ability to organize tasks and manage time to meet many and varied deadlines; manage small groups of students in a classroom environment; and communicate effectively with students, parents, school administrators and other staff, including the ability to discuss topics which may be sensitive.

  • Working familiarity with assistive technologies; internet and email systems; and word processing, presentation, and spreadsheet software.

  • Familiarity with computers and their use in instruction to enhance student learning.

  • Ability to gather data and analyze student achievement to meet student's needs

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

  • Degree in teaching or in a specialized subject with a certificate in education; 

  • Demonstrated knowledge of current instructional strategies appropriate for students at the specified grade level

  • Wyoming Teaching credentials appropriate for the level of students being taught
